climbing 14000

G'day all, I'll be running Leadville this year and will be flying over on the 11th to acclimatise. Since I'll have a few days to fill in I'd love to hike up one of the 14,000 ft mountains (probably Mt Elbert) but is this a good idea? From what I've read so far the hike itself isn't too strenuous but I'd hate to hurt my chances finishing Leadville by hiking up a few days prior, but I guess the extra height should help with acclimatising anyway?BTW, if anyone has any extra acclimatising for a sea…See More

Training Run in Leadville this Saturday

Hello,I'm doing Silverrush 50 as my first 50. I'm heading up to do the first 10 miles up, and down, incase anybody would like to join this Saturday.I'm curious what is recommended as peak mpw, per run, and how often before race day. I backed off after doing a few weeks of 55 mpw, and have focused on climbing, running rom 8,600ft to 11,300 ft on a given run.At any rate, I realize the first 10 mi of the 50 is the last section of the 100...I believe, but if anyone is for for 20 mi this…See More

Leadville Training Plan

Quick and dirty:  I'd love some feedback.

I've got my next 9 months laid out running wise and would love to have some input on what I've got right and what's wrong.

First a link to the plan itself.

I'm starting off really slow and ramping miles up at a rate of about 10%/week because I recently took a full 7 weeks off from running in the wake of a broken bone…

Denver Trail Night usage! - Jefferson County trails

I know a fair amount of you are on the front range in Denver and this could possibly affect you in a very positive way but we'll have to fight for this. Jeffco is currently being asked to consider allowing us (runners/hikers/mtb-ers) to use the Jeffco Open Space trails at night. We have until the 26th of March to collect idea, comments, concerns before the next presentation to the board. For a rundown by Adam Feerst, many of you will recognize the name from the LT100 email list, please see…
